First Communion: Congratulations to our second grade class members who receive their first Holy Communion at the 9:00 A.M. Mass today. Our first communicants are: Raegan Barrett, Danny Casey and Seth Stamp. Please rejoice with these young parishioners who receive Our Lord in the Eucharist for the first time.
Spring Brunch for the Ladies: Saturday, May 3, at 9:30 am, the Church of Christ Ladies will host their annual Spring Brunch – Elsie Moore from Vintage Treasures will share fashions of the past century.
Rogation Days: In the Diocese of Sioux City these days are usually the three days immediately before Ascension Thursday-so our Masses and prayers in those days of April 28, 29 and 30 will focus our intentions on the fields and farms as well as those who care for them. With the assistance of Dale Sexton, I will be traveling to the farms of our parish during the rogation days to pray the Lord’s blessing over your fields.
Catholic Yearbook: A free publication, sponsored by some area businesses and professional services, is available in the gathering space of the church. There are a limited number, but feel free to take one home with you.
Positions Opening: Melissa Hindt has accepted a position at her parish in Pocahontas and will not be returning as DRE for the 2008-2009 academic year. We thank Melissa all of her efforts to assist our young people grow in their faith.
- Maintenance/Custodial: for parish buildings and grounds, part-time employment, year round
- Director of Religious Education: for St. Francis 1-12 religious education program, 10 month contract, part-time

Thank you: A thousand thanks for the many greetings, well-wishes, and cakes (angel food, of course) on my birthday this past Thursday. I am most appreciative. Thanks, too, to all who planned and executed the coffee and cake following morning Mass - everyone enjoyed themselves.
CAYOCA (CAtholic YOuth CAmp): There is still time to register for this awesome four day Catholic summer camp. Adult group leaders are also needed. You can either register online at www.scdioces.org or call 712-233-7520. This camp is held at Twin Lakes Christian Center.
Heads-up department: Wednesday, May 7, is the final evening for Religious Education at St. Francis. We will celebrate the evening with Mass at 7:00 P.M. followed by a little celebration-all are welcome. Baccalaureate for Rockwell City –Lytton seniors will be Wednesday, May 14 at the high school. Sunday, May 18, seniors are invited to join the procession in cap and gown at the 9:00 A.M. Mass.
Mother’s Day is a fitting time to think about the life given to us by God. Mother’s Day is May 11th and the Knights of Columbus with have their annual Roses for Life campaign after each weekend Mass. Protecting life from our conception to our natural death is what this cause is about. All contributions will go to benefit us all in the ongoing battle to keep life sacred in our country.
Church Women United will be hosting “May Fellowship Day” on May 2nd at 9:30 A.M. at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
